Akpi is a brown, sometimes yellow seed produced by a treecalled Djansang. Its scientific name is Ricinodendron heudelotii. This tree isfound mainly in Western Africa. It is known by different names in differentcountries, such as njangsa or essessang in Cameroon, wama in Ghana, Okuen inNigeria and Kishongo in Uganda.
